There are two versions of this amplifier that share the same power rating but differ substantially in design and weight.

The original EA-AMP-SUB-1D-500 weighs 19.7 lbs and uses analog controls on the rear panel: a boundary EQ toggle switch, a 0/180 degree phase switch, and a continuously variable crossover dial. It shipped with an IR remote. There is no front panel display, no USB port, and no update switch.

The revised EA-AMP-SUB-1D-500R weighs 8.5 lbs, a dramatic reduction that reflects the move to a more integrated Class D platform. It replaces all rear-panel analog controls with a front panel VFD display and rotary encoder menu system, adding a digital crossover (40-250 Hz), 8-step phase adjustment (0-315 degrees in 45-degree increments), multiple speaker EQ presets, night mode, and sound modes. The 500R also adds a mini USB port and an UPDATE/OPERATE switch. The 2024 manual revision expanded the speaker EQ preset library from 4 profiles to 16.
